We’re looking for a Retail Sales Associate to join our growing retail team. Our Retail Shop and Salvage Yard is located in NW Portland.

We run 5-7 residential deconstruction jobs daily in and around the Portland metro area and have built a reputation for delivering the highest level of customer service. Job Description:
The Retail Sales Associate position is responsible for all aspects of daily sales and the retail customer experience at our Salvage Shop. A collaborative mindset and the willingness to adapt to new situations are key attributes one must possess. This highly organized person has strong retail experience and the ability to completely understand the varying nature and beauty of salvage materials and products. Active listening, problem solving, flexibility and focus are critical attributes for this role as no two days are alike. This highly physical position is tasked with helping move products & lumber for merchandising and strives to delight our customers by creating a truly unique shopping experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Retail sales and Customer Service
Embrace and Express Lovett Deconstruction’s Mission, Vision and Values
Serve retail customers and assist with lumber sales; respond to customer queries and feedback in a timely manner
Assist in maintaining a customer database including sales email addresses and sales phone messages
Maintain a visually pleasing sales floor within the Lovett aesthetic and cleanliness standards
Maximize profitability by meeting sales goals and identifying areas for growth
Quote custom orders and convert quotes to jobs in POS System
Open/close register and adhere to all cash handling guidelines
Maintain and update signage for retail displays as necessary
Contribute ideas on new merchandise based on customer inquiries and sales trends
Using Lovett pricing guidelines, ensure all sales floor inventory is priced and clearly marked
Track small inventory supplies and order as needed
Maintain “Materials Wanted” book
Maintain a VIP list of contractors and know them by name
Under the direction of the Retail Sales Manager, and Facilities Coordinator, assist in organizing and executing company retail and sales floor events
Contribute content ideas for the monthly Lovett Salvage Shop customer newsletter to the Retail Sales Manager
Other tasks or projects as requested by General Manager, Retail Sales Manager, and Owners
Skills & Qualifications:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Able to work in a fast-paced, self-directed environment
Attention to detail, a must
Prominent organization and presentation skills
Excellent time management skills
Decision-making, problem resolution, and creative thinking skills
Able to multi-task activities with shifting priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS technologies, ability to learn new IT as needed
Basic math and numerical skills
Safety awareness in a warehouse or lumber yard environment
Forklift certified or the ability to become OSHA certified
Experience:
1 year experience working with clients, vendors and customers in a sales environment
Familiarity with new and salvage lumber and wood products, a plus
Experience working with salvage, vintage, or reclaimed materials preferred
Physical Demands:
This position works outside in a retail warehouse environment in all weather conditions.
Ability to work in an environment with moderate to high noise levels & able to use proper ear protection as needed or when instructed.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs over the course of a day; handling power tools and hand tools; must be able to stoop, bend, prying, pulling and twisting.

Part Time or Full Time positions available. Possible shifts include: Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm, Saturday -Saturday, 9am - 6pm.
Compensation:
We evaluate our compensation offerings according to market medians and internal pay equity. The hourly pay range starts between $20/hr and $24/hr.
