About Us

Lovett Deconstruction, Inc. is a licensed and bonded [CCB# 173875], independent, locally-owned business, founded by Der Lovett in March of 2005. Having worked in the field since 1999, Der established his own outfit and began to carefully build a team of the most knowledgeable minds in the business. Our crew of seasoned deconstructionists relies on years of experience to precisely and efficiently dismantle both common and uncommon building structures. All dismantling is done by hand, and we ensure that any salvageable materials remain, intact and ready for reuse, at the end of each project.

Our goal is to provide a service that both our crew and our clients feel is productive, respectful, and conscientious. With every job, we aim to take care of people, offering a clean, neat, and thorough operation. Some of our crew members have worked together for many years, and we believe that this familial backbone has obvious benefits within our company and our daily workings, and that this quality lends and extends itself to the relationships we have with clientele.

The potential for deconstruction to significantly reduce waste and improve the quality of our environment and our experience is great, and we are happy to have a hand in these effects. Deconstruction is by no means a new technique with which to handle building structures, but it is a method that had been generally discarded somewhere along our history line. We are pleased to be part of this art form's resurrection and hope that our work, in turn, inspires others to look at, treat, and utilize the materials around them in new and renewed ways.

Born and raised in Ireland, Der Lovett visited Portland in 1998 and has been a Portlander ever since.  In 2005, Der started Lovett Deconstruction, Inc., after six years of supervising a variety of deconstruction projects.  Both a furniture maker and lover of interiors, he has a sharp eye for recognizing great materials and knowing how they can be put to good use.
